Q: What is this service all about? How does it work?
A: You install a small application in your mobile phone called a MIDlet. THe MIDlet is around 64K bytes in size. Once installed the MIDlet needs to be able to connect to our servers. You will be asked two times if you allow the MIDlet to establish a network connection. You need to allow the application to connect or else the service is unavailable. If you denied by mistake then restart the application. Also if the data connecion drops unexpectadly will be asked again to reestablish the network link.
Q: How long do I need to to keep the MIDlet in the phone?
A: Once you subscribed you can use the same application for the whole 2008 Formula1 season. It is unknown at this stage if the same MIDlet will work for 2009 season. The application will inform you if an upgrade is required.
Q: The MIDlet installer is asking if it should preserve application data during the reinstallation or upgrade process. What is the right answer?
A: The only application data stored in the phone memory is the email and password you created at registration time. If you choose to preserve this data then you will not be asked again this information at the next launch. However if you choose to delete the applicaiton data the next time you start the application you will be asked the email address and the password.
Q: The application displays a message: "Invalid credentials". What can i do?
A: If you think that you mistyped the email and password required by the mobile application then you can reset them by pressing any of the two soft buttons (left or right) the select "ResetPwd" from between the options. Restart the application afterwards.
Q: The test application reports a failed result. What can i do?
A: Press the middle button so that a new test is run for a smaller format. If that one succeeds please remember to download the small factor version from http://yamigo.com/dl
Q: What are the available commands in the phone
A: Press 1, 2, 3 or 4 to show different screens with different information. Screen one shows the Live Timing data. Screen 2 shows the weather information. Screen 3 shows the Lap chart. Screen 4 shows the live commentaries. You can cycle between them by pressing <FIRE>.
Also in Lap Chart screen you can press # and * to select a certain driver. (in the Nokia Communicators 9300 9500 E90 you need to press <TAB>.
Q: I mistype the email and/or the password. What can I do? It looks like the phone is asking only once those data.
A: For convenience the email and password is asked only once at the first launch and then stored in the phone. To reset them, press any of the soft buttons left or right (the ones right under your screen for most of the phones) and between the options found there you can select ResetPswd.
Q: How much data is it transfering? How much it will cost me to watch the whole weekend?
A: The Live Yamigo mobile application uses GPRS data connection to obtain the information. On an average the amount of data transferred during the Sunday race adds up to around 100KBytes. In addition to this one on Friday training session another aprox 30KBytes is transferred and the Saturday Qualification uses around 50-100KBytes. Please check your mobile subscription for the actual costs associated. NOTE that this can be an additional cost that you can generate and this are money you pay to your operator and not to us. Live Yamigo is no affiliated in any way with any mobile operators.
NOTE!! If your phone does not support TCPIP GPRS data traffic (aka internet traffic) then the connection will fall back on old style WAP HTTP. As a result the phone will poll for new data every 30 seconds (aprox 15K each fetch). This results in a much larger amount of data being transfered. On an average for a 2 hours race you will transfer around 3 MegaByte. Check your mobile subsription for the incoured costs. The test application we provide at http://yamigo.com/t.jad is able to indicate if your phone/subscription is able to establish a TCPIP/GPRS connection.
Q: Is Live Yamigo pushing any ads towards the phone?
A: No. The Midlet is not currently pushing any advertisment to the phone.
